Going away before the new card arrives: the autorización de regreso in Pamplona

When the trip calls for one

If your TIE is valid for the whole trip, you need nothing more.

• Your authorisation is being renewed and the card has run out
• Your card went missing, through loss or theft, and a duplicate is pending
• A first card has been requested, is not yet in your hands, and your visa no longer covers you

The regresos section

At Avenida de Guipúzcoa 40, the Delegación del Gobierno places autorizaciones de regreso with Personal comunitarios y regresos, whose contact is pamplona.comunitarios-aregreso@policia.es. policia.es lists return authorisations both there and at the Comisaría de Tudela, though the Delegación’s own list for Tudela leaves them out; if you live in the Ribera, see which office the cita previa for Navarra offers.

In the folder

• The application for the return authorisation, signed
• Your passport, and your card if you still have it
• The receipt for your renewal or duplicate application
• For a lost or stolen card, the police report
• What shows why you are travelling, where you have it
• The 790-012 for a return authorisation, paid

What it does, and what it does not

It allows you back into Spain within the period it states. It is not a residence permit and does not replace the card, which Recogida de tarjetas still hands over. Buy the ticket once you hold it, and check with your airline that it accepts the document for boarding.

A sudden journey

An emergency does not change the procedure, but you can explain it. If a relative falls ill abroad, write to the section with your situation and the proof you have, and keep checking the booking system at the same time, with the 790-012 already paid.
